Our Sustainability Commitments
We recognise that live music events have an impact on the environment. The good news is that we can all do something about it. You can learn about the actions we're taking together with our event partners, and how you can make a difference.
What We're Doing
From our side, we know there is more we can be doing and that we want to do. We hope that what we are delivering helps to demonstrate our commitment to work towards creating more environmentally and socially conscientious events.
Our initiatives include:
Energy
- Swapping out white diesel for hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a renewable non-fossil fuel, for power generation,
- Working closely with our power management contractor and teams across site to prioritise energy conservation, maximise efficiency, and monitor energy use,
- Post-event monitoring report will be used to help inform future efforts to conserve energy at other shows.
Waste
- Every item of waste is removed from the event site and perimeter, and separated
- No bespoke builds for this event; all materials will be reused for future events.
Travel & Transport
- Working with local suppliers and contractors to reduce travel miles
- Utilising existing infrastructure where possible, including using mains water supply as opposed to trucking water to the venue
- All artists have been signposted to local accommodation to reduce travel miles
- For more information about travel to the venue, please refer to our 'Travel' FAQs.
Vendors
- Actively encourage vendors to use ethically and environmentally conscious produce.
Research
- Working in partnership with MIT's Environmental Solutions Initiative to measure and create an environmental impact baseline for Anjuna events with the aim to reduce this year on year.
What You Can Do
- Please consider car sharing to ABGT 500. It's a great way to save money if you are driving, and to find like-minded people to travel with. If you are driving or looking for a lift, click here and share the journey
- Request 'green' or 'electric' ride if using ride-hailing apps, and rideshare
- Consider cycling. There are over 100 bicycle racks around Banc of California Stadium
- Create your own Climate Avatar with our friends from MIT's Environmental Solutions Initiative.
- Positively contribute to ocean health by joining our beach clean with Surfrider. Sign up here
- Respect the local neighbourhood. Leave quietly and put any waste in bins
Have you got ideas around what else we should be thinking about?
